Qualcomm recently commissioned comScore to conduct a study on the U.S. mobile audience to gain insight into the penetration of the Brew feature phone platform in the mobile market today. The study found that as of May 2011, 65.6 million U.S. mobile subscribers age 13+ were using devices running on the Brew operating system. This represents 40 percent of the feature phone user market â€“ a 20 percent increase from the previous year. More notably, in May 2011, 5 out of the top 10 mobile devices in the U.S. were running on the Brew platform, competing head-to-head with smartphones.
